GSC REIT Hires New CFO

GSC Capital Corp., a real estate investment trust (REIT) in New York City, has hired Brian H. Oswald (45) as its new CFO to replace April Spencer. Oswald, who brings more than 24 years of financial management experience, served for seven years as the CFO and chief accounting officer of Capital Trust, a REIT that specializes in credit-sensitive structured products, prior to joining GSC.

Oswald, who is both a CPA and certified management accountant, will report to Frederick H. Horton, the CEO of GSC Capital and a senior managing director of GSC Partners, which is headquartered in Florham Park. GSC Capital is managed by GSC Partners, an alternative asset management firm with more than $9 billion in assets under management.

GSC Partners, which also runs two hedge funds, employs about 130 professionals across its businesses. Former Goldman Sachs executives, including GSC Partners’ CEO Alfred Eckert, fill the firm’s top management ranks. The New Jersey-based firm also maintains offices in London and Los Angeles.

April Spencer will continue to work with GSC Capital through the transition, and has been tapped to help implement Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 compliance for the firm. - Ki Kim
