Watson Pharma to buy Andrx for $1.9 billion

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Watson Pharmaceuticals (WPI : Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc said it was buying Andrx Corp. for $1.9 billion, or $25 a share in cash. The bid for Andrx represents a 16% premium to Friday's closing price of $21.59. The expected closing date of the deal has not yet been determined. Watson shares closed Friday unchanged at $29.55.
