PDI Announces New Appointment

PDI (Nasdaq: PDII), announced today the appointment of Jeffrey E. Smith as executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. Smith will join the Saddle River company effective May 15. Smith has more than 30 years of finance, accounting and general management experience including more than 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Most recently he was senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer of Pliva, a generic pharmaceutical company. From 1985 to 2002 he served in various executive positions with Alpharma. PDI is a sales and marketing-services provider to the biopharmaceutical industry. Its shares opened at $13.34 this morning.
