NJ Transit changes Morristown plan

NJ Transit today amended a plan for a redevelopment project at the Morristown train station that could increase ridership on the Morris & Essex line and save the agency money on a parking deck that will add spaces for commuters.

Under the amended agreement, the developer, Rosewood Lafeyette Commons LLC, will provide the majority of funding for the new weather-protected parking deck next to the Morristown station.

The project, with construction expected to begin this summer, includes constuction of 218 residential units and 8,000 square feet of retail space, as well as the 780-car parking deck, which is to have 415 spaces reserved for NJ Transit’s growing ridership on the line.
NJ Transit’s board also approved a $2.3 million contract to rehabilitate the roof at the Morristown station. The work is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
